Pregnancy Blog | 18 weeks

Updated: Apr 30

We are almost half way there!! How exciting! We have our anatomy scan coming up. With that comes gender reveals!! Mitchell and I have been trying to narrow down our "possible names list" which is not the easiest. There are quite a few names I love that he is not a fan of and vice versa. We have however found a few that we both like.

Current symptoms

Nausea and vomiting have almost completely subsided. I have only thrown up once in the last 4 weeks. I still get a little nauseous sometimes but for the most part it passes without needing to take anything. I have started having heartburn so that's fun. My headaches have returned. I have dealt with headaches and migraines for over half of my life so this isn't something I'm not used to. It's just complicated more because I am so limited in what I can currently take for them. A new symptom this pregnancy has been nose bleeds. I've only had a few and I think that the dry air over night contributed to them. Sometimes when I clear my nose in the morning there is some blood with it but generally nothing too bad. My belly button has "popped." This one makes me laugh a little because anyone who has been around for the last 2 pregnancies knows in those two my belly button was already popped even before I was showing because I had a pretty decent umbilical hernia. I had that hernia repaired last year in August and was wondering if my belly button would end up popping at all this time since it looks so different now than it used to. The last one I can think of is that I have the pregnant waddle! While I am still fairly small according to most people, I am bigger than I usually am at 18 weeks and have that slight waddle going.

Registry

When I first found out I was pregnant again I debated alot about whether or not to make a baby registry this time around. For the most part we still have everything we need because instead of getting rid of things I have just packed them away between babies as they outgrow certain things. I don't want to get rid of those items until we are sure we won't need them again in the future. Of course, there are things here and there and there's always new gadgets coming out so I still like to browse. When we found out we were having twins, that changed some of the things we in fact do actually need or may want. Also, if the twins end up being boys we will have to start a whole new wardrobe since I obviously only have girls clothes packed away. I decided to start a registry but really as a way to keep track of things I liked and wanted to remember later. I still haven't decided if we will have a baby shower or not so I have the registry set to private for now.

Appointments

Right now I am getting ultrasounds about every 3 weeks. I have very much enjoyed that as with most pregnancies you get somewhere between 1 and 3 unless you go to a boutique ultrasound facility on your own. It's been a great peace of mind getting to see the babies regularly, check in on them and see how much they've grown. They are both growing right on track to where they are supposed to be right now. Their heart rates are great and every ultrasound they have been pretty active. I finally felt one of them move for the first time last Friday evening. I felt the other one two days later on Sunday. I assume I'll start feeling them both more often soon.
