Pregnancy Blog | 32+ Weeks

Well we have reached the point where every day I say, "Today could be the day. Who knows?" Obviously, our goal is to keep the twins cooking a little longer but in reality, they could very well be born at any point.

I am still seeing the high risk OB monthly with growth ultrasounds. Next week, I start weekly monitoring NST's along with those growth scans. I am seeing my regular OB every 2 weeks and currently getting weekly iron infusions. Yes, it's as hectic as it sounds with all those appointments.

At my last growth ultrasound, the girls were both looking great. They are still growing right on track. Baby A is still head down and has secured her spot to be the first one out. Baby B was no longer transverse across the top of my belly. She moved over but was in a breech position. So she was feet down. Because she will be born second her being breech hopefully wouldn't be an issue and we could possibly avoid a c-section. I am hoping this is the case but also preparing myself in case it isn't, and we do end up having to have a c-section. On ultrasound, both girls were seen doing practice breathing which is fantastic. They were estimated to each be 3 and a half pounds, so theoretically this week they would be estimated around 4+ pounds because at this point they should be gaining about half a pound a week. Baby A still likes to show her face and make it easy for the tech to get good 3D pictures and Baby B finally gave us a decent one but she very much likes to snuggle her sister's legs. Last week, just one week after that growth scan, I had another ultrasound with my OB. On that scan, Baby B wasn't breech and was back in a more transverse position but looking like she was maybe trying to get into the head down position. Fingers crossed she figures it out and both babies end up being head down!

Symptom wise at this point I am experiencing most of the things you would expect. I still have heartburn. The acid reflux has gotten worse, so I did have to start meds for that. The back and hip pain are a constant. At this point there is not really anything that actually helps it. I still get short of breath and light-headed easily. I am constantly trying to remind myself to sit and take more breaks. That's something I have never been good at doing. The nesting is in full swing and that makes it much harder to force myself to take breaks because I just want to do and get things done. Every day I am tempted to go and install car seats in the car but I keep telling myself that it's too soon. Is it though?

Update:

I was going to post this last night but ended up having to postpone due to some "exciting" developments. Last night(Saturday), Mitchell and I went to dinner while the girls were hanging out with Gigi and Papa. I started having some contractions during dinner but they stopped by the time we went to pick up the girls. We got home a little after 9 and went out to take care of chickens and cows. We came back in and got the girls in bed, sat down on the couch to menu plan for the week and watch an episode of the Good Doctor. In the hour and a half we were sitting there on the couch I was contracting every 3-4 minutes. They weren't going away even though I tried all the things they say to try: drink water, change positions, empty your bladder, etc. Mitchell went ahead and called his mom to come stay with the kids and we went to the hospital. They hooked me up to the monitors and contractions were still coming regularly. The babies looked great though. They did check my cervix and found that I was dilated to a 2. They gave me some medicine to try to stop contractions and a liter of fluids. The medicine was not pleasant at all. It's given in a shot and stings worse than any wasp sting I've ever experienced, made my heartrate shoot up, and gave me the shakes. Like whole body trembling! The good news is that I responded well to the meds and the contractions calmed down to the point they were comfortable sending me home. I now have some rest restrictions and will follow up with my OB Tuesday. It's looking like these babies are wanting to be born sooner rather than later..
